This was the first solid episode of Kurokami in a very long time. Coincidentally, there was no action here, and the writers simply used the time to flesh out the relationship between Keita and the konbini voyeur. You’d think it’d be a recipe for boredom, but the story was surprisingly engaging, not overly outlandish, and we at least got an episode off from having to watch the stupid transformation sequences, and Kuro’s terrible fighting “skills.”
I’ve been admittedly lax in my posting about Kurokami. I figure there’s only so much interest in me writing about how crappy the show is week to week. Fortunately, episode 11 was actually a pretty good episode, so my post might be better than my recent Kurokami posts have been. Unfortunately, this post is about episode 10, which was not a good episode.
Another week, another handful of webisodes of Haruhi-chan and Nyoron Churuy-san. Wait- have I said this before? Regardless, I’m glad they seem to have found a schedule to stick to.

Others have already written much on the drastic difference in animation quality from the first half of the episode, compared to the second half. But I had to see it for myself to believe it. And yeah, it’s quite stunning actually. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like the animation in the first half is great – I think everyone looks a little too shiny and there were a handful of scenes where lines didn’t look like they were drawn quite right – but it’s so nice to see some attention paid to shading and highlights, to characters looking like well-proportioned humans, and some experimentation with non-standard camera angles, that it just feels like a huge improvement from what we’ve seen so far (and what we see in the second half). It was like going from watching old Hanna Barbera clips to the latest Pixar jawn. Definitely good enough for a slice of life.
Woohoo for ggcaust continuing to sub the show. I think I read that it’s most of the gg TL team continuing, so you got the same style and quality. Slightly later release date, but that’s a tradeoff I can live with.
On the plus side, there was a lot more Mariya in this ep. I’m sorta bored with all the Kanako nosebleed stuff, but I can’t get enough of Mariya’s manipulativeness.
It was a long grinding slog, but finally, mercifully, thankfully TAMNI is done! At least season 1 that is. The final episode wasn’t bad, but was pretty much a microcosm of everything good and bad with the show.
The HQ versions are back if anyone’s interested. Otherwise, it was your Haruhi-chan and Churuya-san antics as usual.

Because you all care so much… (I’m not really drunk, my typing would be much worse, although this is proofreading free so forgive any grammatical/spelling errors 🙂 )
I wish… asread could have spent the time and money to make the design and animation even merely average. I’ve gotten used to the terrible quality of the animation. But every now and then I can’t help but cringe at an elongated chin, or a malformed head or a criminally thin body limb. Even Mako-chan got the shaft this episode, and it usually looks like they spend a little extra time on her/him. Whatever. It’s not a big deal. Onto the Kana-heavy episode.
Part 1: Practice? You’re doing it all wrong!
Because they’re either tipping off the “final battle” way too early, or this show isn’t really 24 episodes (hooray!). If that were really the case, it would be the best thing to happen to the show since the promising first episode.
