Definitely a solid rebound from the disaster that was the last episode.

Oh man, school has just been hitting hard. After this week it should be better, but it’s been crazy. At this point, we’re up to episode six in Fortune Arterial.
Sadly, it’s become readily apparent to me that Bakuman is a flawed series that will be weighed down the whole way through by its utterly banal romance angle. Why is that?

This was the best episode of Bakuman since the first episode. Why is that? No wasted time on the romance (and what was, was pretty funny), and a lot more focus on Mashiro and Takagi submitting their first draft to the Shounen Jack editor for review.
Despite featuring the first battle of one of the Kiriboshi bosses, this episode felt like nothing much really happened. But you know what’s really hard? Animating a manga. You think the animators were sitting around watching this and thinking "bah! manga artists are wusses!"
