
A lot of posturing in this episode, as all the pieces gather and the second game between Beatrice and Battler begins to take shape.

There’s not a whole lot to say about the episode besides a recounting of the events. Compared to the first arc, the first episode of the second arc takes it’s time and focuses on providing some character development for Shannon, Jessica and to a lesser degree, Kanon and George. July(?) 1986

I mean the above title in the most complimentary of ways, as this was the best episode of the show so far, and what I consider the official start of mindfuck season.

So we got some answers to a few questions this week, like is everyone oblivious to Maria or do they just think she’s mondo weird? (the latter) How did Eva and Hideyoshi die? Where is Kinzo? And also some answers to questions that no one was thinking of, like does Jessica have a thing for [...]

This was the first episode where I thought they were able to slow the story down, pace it a little better and focus on setting the atmosphere and building out the characters.

It didn’t take long for Umineko to get the action going and start piling up the body count. While I expected a pretty exciting episode, I was surprised to see a third of the cast die off at once. In fact, I’m not even sure who’s dead and who’s not.

The summer’s most anticipated series kicks off with a bang, or at least a vicious slap (~uu~). Have the tables been set for another thriller, mystery masterpiece from 07th Expansion and Studio DEEN? Or are we in for an underwhelming experience like the latest Higurashi OVA? I have no clue. That was just a rhetorical [...]
