Melancholy of Haruhi-chan and Nyoron Churuya-san #2

I don’t know why I’m bothering to write about these. Probably because I’m a total sucker for anything Haruhi-related. Probably because they’re also light and breezy to write about.

After a lacklaster first episode, which Alafista notes is now no longer to be found (so get your episode two fixes in quickly), the second webcast proves to be a bit better. The comedy’s less random, the pacing a little better and ah, what the hell, just watch it and see for yourself. It clocks in at two-and-a-half minutes long, so you can catch while brushing your teeth or something.

Not going with totally abstract humor definitely does help. And while it was amusing to watch parody Haruhi freak out over lack of business, it made me pine for the real deal. Best part of the webcast? Hentai Nagato FTW.

Nyoron Churuya-san #2

It seems like the smoked cheese arc is done, except for an unsuccessful Google search. But we do get to see Churuya in all her loser glory, check it out. At 1:55, this one’s even shorter than the Haruhi-chan skit. Might as well, since the humor’s even more random. They do introduce a new character, Asahakura, who plays Churuya’s love rival. The scene at the end with Asahakura trying to deliver a love letter to Kyon, and ending up shooting Churuya with a dart arrow was legitimately funny. Although it would’ve been way funnier if that arrow was a real arrow. Maybe too gory for the chibi crowds?

I don’t know why Kadokawa chooses not to release Churuya in a high quality version when they do so for Haruhi-chan. It’s not like the cinematography requires it, but it would be nice.
