Moving time, fasten your seatbelts

Update: The move turned out to be pretty simple and quick. But if you notice anything misbehaving or funky, please leave a comment. Thanks!

What with the imminent winter season preview post, the Twelve Moments in Anime project, an end of the year anniversary post, and then the subsequent winter season first impressions posts, things are going to get busier around here. So with that in mind, I figured now was as good a time as any to pick up and move this site to a new host. Hopefully nothing breaks and everything goes smoothly and quickly, but we’ll see. But if you notice general wonkiness over the next 24-48 hours, you’ll know why. Much thanks to Kabitzin, Zenical, Panther, and Gargron for answering my questions about their hosts to aid my research.

Good luck with your move, it usually takes quite a while to set up the blog and stuff though.

What host did you choose?

I ended up going with sharkspace.com… which was not what anybody else recommended, so we’ll see how it goes :-)

Hmm… Lets hope my move to Dreamhost goes well.

Honestly I feel like i might’ve shoulda chose another host. But i was in a pinch >_>

Either way, Sharkspace looks like it’s a really good host. With the speed and all.

I’ll have to look into more web hosts and alla that. When I finish school and get a new job, I might try Fat Cow hosting. Or Blue Host. I would’ve tried JustHost, but after seeing what FaS had to go through with his web host, I won’t try it :D

Sharkspace has been great. Very fast, stable, excellent support. If you’re interested, email me. I signed up for 2 years at less than $100.

Dreamhost I’ve found is relatively fast, but somewhat unreliable. With that said, if you got the $10/yr deal then there is no better price, and that sounds like the most important thing to you right now.

Congrats on moving, I think the site loads faster. And np for information, I don’t think I said something useful though

Thanks. Speed was definitely the most important reason for my move. The response times from the last host just became terrible.

Also, a big applause on the social bookmarking buttons. Our anisphere definitely needs to spread onto Digg and StumbleUpon and that-like sites.

You know, I’ve waffled on the social bookmarking buttons quite a bit, because I’ve questioned whether or not people actually use them and find them valuable. I haven’t figured that out yet, but they’re here for now.
