Umineko no Naku Koro ni

Beatrice stands up for Maria

Perhaps the only thing “Endless” about Beatrice is the gallons and gallons of blood she gushes after being gashed by Battler’s truths. Otherwise, if anything, the last episode of the question arcs should be how limited Beatrice is, and how far under Lambdadelta’s (and Bernkastel’s) thumb she’s pinned.

Trollkastel and Trolldadelta

So I’ll eventually get around to the real post, most likely after Christmas. But here’s my initial stream of consciousness. They’re both trolls! All these witches are trolls! Even Bernkastel!

CCY has thrown down his Twelve Moments of Anime gauntlet, inviting others to join him everyday until Christmas in recalling their 12 favorite anime-related things of the year. Whew, twelve days is longer than I thought. We’re into the top 3. Don’t do me like that Moetrice!

Heading to Rokkenjima

Remember when Umineko was about the battle between logic and magic, between Battler and Beatrice? No? Well, that’s alright, because it’s been a while. The latest episode wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t a fan. It feels like we’re straying further and further from the core battle. Maybe they’ll tie it back together in the last [...]

Kanon breaks out of jail

I’ve gotta say, it’s nice to type in regular English. Just when I get the hang of explaining the murders (pretty easy this time around), they go and change the game up completely. But does this potentially final checkmate get us closer to the truth?

It’s weird, this arc feels like it’s being paced at a fairly leisurely level, especially any Ange or Maria background scene, but then the whole George & Jessica "Head of the Ushiromiyas" game felt a little rushed and compressed. Which is which? Also, this was the first episode without Beatrice throughout the whole episode. And [...]

Kinzo returns

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Or at least an exciting Thursday if you’re in one of those places that doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving. This Umineko post notwithstanding, I’m basically taking a weeklong break from writing to spend some quality family time. I’m also looking forward to the winter season kicking off soon. There’s a handful [...]

Shotataro and the Seven Stakes in The Orgy

No Battler, no Beatrice, and smashed rabbits makes me a sad blogger. The background on Ange and Maria was helpful, but I do miss the stars of the show.

Ange leaves the game

Holy cow, did DEEN even look at this episode before airing it? The white highlights and soft glows were unbearably bright. Half the time you couldn’t even make out the lines on the characters’ faces. Budget saving tactic by skimping on details? Whatever the thought, this episode looked awful.

Moetrice is concerned about Battler

I knew she wasn’t gone. I knew I saw a fleeting moment of hesitation before her complete destruction of Battler in the third game. Hope lives for Moetrice’s true resurrection!
